A Night at Bucks

I hung out at Starbucks tonight because I had some sketching I need to get done for my sculpture class. I had a table up in the upper level and then saw an empty chair in the front window down by the street, so I snatched it up real quick. I am glad I did, because I got some awesome pictures. I was messing around with exposure time and a bunch of things, that gave me some pretty cool shots.

Money

So I had been praying last week about finding some work during the time off from school, while I am just diving for these first few weeks of the year. I have been able to make some money, but not in the ways I thought I was going to. Tonight I jammed out with a friend at a lounge for a few hours and made some money and last week I took pictures at a basketball game and was contacted by a few newspapers about some pictures. So, my prayers were answered and that I am very thankful for. I just cannot even begin to describe all that God has been doing and showing me in the last few weeks, but He has given me a lot of time to do what I love and not worry about things and I could go on and on, but I don't want to go in to it now... I can say that He is awesome and is doing amazing things to amazing people with amazing people! Hope that makes sense. At any rate, check out the photo of the day. It is HOT! Click the heading to get to it.

Another Wonderful Day!

Isn't it supposed to be cold in the middle of winter? I haven't worn my winter coat, but maybe 3 days this fall/winter. It has been in the 50's and 60's since I got back here the 30th and next week it will be in the 70's!!
I have gotten to take a lot of photos this week because it has been awesome outside. It has either been foggy or sunny, which both make for awesome photography!
I was talking to a friend today, (who will remain nameless) an he was looking at a few of my photos and said, see me when you graduate, I know someone who you might be able to work for. mmmm, nice! TYL...
I am just enjoying not having to worry about school and work and all the other things associated with school
I am talking to Shawn right now and they have over three feet of snow on the ground in B.C.

Awesome God

Today was an awesome day!! It started out at Starbucks, where I got to do some reading and talking with God (where I have been everyday for the last week). I came back home and put together some photos and took them to get printed, because I don't really have anything printed and I wanted something to be able to show people what kind of work I do. I then had practice, which was blah... just one of those days when things don't go so well in the pool. Anywho... The best part of the day was when I went to the Tewksbury's house with Cramer for dinner and then we babysat the kids for a few hours, while Deb and Dave went to an art show. Those kids were a blast!!
My whole week has been filled with awesome me and God time. He has shown me so much about so many things, I cannot thank Him enough.
Everyday this week I have been able to go out and take pictures of different things and work on developing my photography.

The Roanoke Times...

...emailed me yesterday asking me if I had any pictures from the UVA Men's Basketball game against Western kentucky they might be able to buy from me. I was at Starbucks when I received the email, so I called the guy back who had emailed me and told him I would run home and look to see what i had from the game. He needed a picture of J.R. Reynolds, who didn't come into the game until very late, so I knew it was going to be hard to find anything good of him. Well, when I started looking through the pictures, I wasn't seeing anything, even though I knew I had at least one shot of him, which was the last picture I took at the game, which was in overtime. I ended up finding three pictures of him and sent him all three. He called me back and asked if they could use two of them, to which I said, "gladly" to. He is paying me, which is actually more than I would have made working all week this week. So, even when we don't think things are going our way, God is in control and has our best interest in hand. So, if you know anyone in Roanoke, VA (mom) let them know that there are two of my pictures in the Sports section.

Here is the article.
Here are some of the pictures from the game.

So Much Time... So Little To Do.

I never thought I would say I love not really having any obligations. I am back in Charlottesville, VA and all I HAVE TO DO is diving practicing. I have morning workout 4 days a week and afternoon practice 4 days a week (through next week). I thought I was going to be working at the AFC, but since I did't know I was going to be here this week, I couldn't sign up for shifts. When I found out I was not going to go to Georgia for a dive meet, it was too late to sign up; everything was taken. So, during my free time, I have been hanging out at Starbucks and getting quite a bit of work done. I have been taking pictures everyday and hanging out with friends. I have been reading some and writing some and thinking about a lot of things that could determine my future career in photography (hopefully). I have had a blast being back here and not having to worry about anything.
School doesn't start for another two weeks, so I have a lot of time to get more stuff done. I have gone out everyday and taken pictures, which has been awesome!! There are some up in the photo area. I have also started a blog that shows a photo a day. I know a lot of people do this, so I thought I would try it. It's really easy to do now, when I don't have much going on, but it's going to be harder when I get back into school and things start to get crazy again.

GAMEDAY worthy?

So I got an email yesterday from a friend at church who edits the program for mens basketball here at UVA. She asked if I had a particular shot of the three guys in the collage, well I didnt have one shot, but I found 3 shots so I worked on it in photoshop and this is what I came up with. I had fun doing it, even if they dont end up using it.

If you click on it, you will be taken to my photo a day page.

A Photo A Day

I decided to start taking a photo a day. Originally, I was going to work on designing something like this, but then realized that was going to be pretty hard. I got to thinking and realized I could just make another blog and just put the picture I take on it, that way people can comment on it and go to the previous days photo and do everything I was wanting to be done. So check it out if you want. I am going to put a link on the sidebar, so it is there all the time.

I just edited some diving video and I am going to hope this works for you.

Out And About On New Years

This photo is the beginning of my "photo a day" quest. Wish me luck!

Sarah and I took a drive on the Blue Ridge parkway today and took pictures. What a great way to start the new year! It was gorgeous and 70 degrees.
